KARACHI: Police claimed to have arrested three suspected motorcycle lifters from the Gulshan-e-Maymar area of Karachi on Wednesday.
According to sources, acting on intelligence information, police arrested three accused near Nuristan Super Store in Gulshan-e-Maymar area. Sources said the arrested criminals were involved in motorcycle theft as well as several street crimes.
Police also recovered two TT pistols, ammunition, more than 1.5 kg of hashish and a stolen motorcycle from the possession of the arrested accused. The motorcycle was stolen from Aziz Bhatti police station, sources added.
According to police, the accused were wanted to police in several cases of robberies committed in different parts of the city, including Gulshan-e-Maymar.
The accused have been identified as Bilal, Suleiman and Muhammad Ali. Weapons recovered from the accused will be sent for forensic examination, police said.
Earlier, the police had arrested a criminal and recovered two stolen motorcycles from his possession.
According to details, police in their crackdown against criminal elements managed to net a bike lifter namely Qadir Hussain alias Gitu and recovered two stolen motorcycles from his possession. As per the preliminary police record, the criminal was also involved in other crimes as well, police added.
Police stated that other members and facilitators of the bike lifter gang would also be arrested following preliminary investigations with the detainee culprit.
