LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman refused to answer if he would accept Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz as prime minister.
The JUI-F chief held a meeting with Maryam Nawaz at Jati Umra residence in Raiwind to discuss the upcoming protests of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in a bid to oust the government.
Addressing media after the meeting alongside Maryam, the JUI-F chief took when asked if he supported Maryam as a potential prime minister, saying the ‘question was planted by the ruling PTI’.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman warned the government that it would soon fall. He said that there was no sign of good governance throughout the country. Fazl said that the upcoming public rallies of the alliance in Karachi and Gujranwala will attract large crowds.

Maryam lashed out at the government and criticising a recent statement by Prime Minister Imran Khan in which he said that India is happy because of Nawaz Sharif’s speeches.
“India becomes happy when the economy becomes bankrupt,” she said. “India becomes happy when the ‘Fall of Kashmir’ takes place. India becomes happy when you present Kashmir on a tray to them,” she added.
Maryam said that the people of Pakistan were looking towards the PDM with high hopes. She said that Maulana Fazl will attend the Gujranwala gathering and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be invited to participate.
Responding to a question, Maryam said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and she did not need to prove his patriotism. “Maryam Nawaz is the daughter of this country and Nawaz Sharif is a son of the soil. We do not need to prove anything to anyone.”
The PDM has announced phase-wise protests against the ruling PTI and also demanded the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
PDM announced that the opposition parties would launch a three-phased anti-government movement from next month and a long march towards Islamabad in January 2021.
