Ex K-Electric CEO appointed SAPM on Power

ISLAMABAD: Former chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of K-Electric Tabish Gauhar has been appointed as Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) for Power.

The Cabinet Division released a notification regarding the appointment of Tabish Gauhar as the Special Assistant to Prime Minister.

Gauhar had been associated with KE as the chairman and CEO for more than seven years. The notification read that Gauhar’s appointment shall be in an honourary capacity.

Gauhar spent over seven years as CEO and chairman of K-Electric before he stepped down from his position in October 2015.

Under his leadership, the company made significant progress in key operational and financial indicators and generated a profit for the first time in 17 years in 2012.

He founded Oasis Energy Consultants Limited, where he is still the chairman. He has also worked at Dubai-based Abraaj Group which took over control of K-Electric.

Gauhar also worked on International Power’s $1.5 billion Hub Power Project between 1994 and 1999 in various capacities.
