LAHORE: A Lahore accountability court on Tuesday granted 14-day physical remand of PML-N President and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.
The court directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to present him on 13th October. Shehbaz Sharif was presented before the court amid tight security.
The NAB prosecutor requested the court to grant physical remand of the PML-N leader for further investigation into the assets beyond means and money laundering case against him.
The prosecutor stated NAB needs Shehbaz Sharif’s custody for interrogation. He added the accused refused to answer the questions placed before him yesterday.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested the PML-N president yesterday after the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected his bail plea in the money laundering case.
A two-member LHC bench headed by Judge Sardar Ahmed Naeem rejected Shehbaz’s bail plea after hearing the arguments from the NAB team and his lawyer.
The NAB arrested Shehbaz and took him to its Lahore’s detention centre. It will produce him to the accountability court for his physical remand.
