ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) ticketing process have halted in Islamabad Blue Area as the officers’ fight with each other in the PIA office.
Sources said that there was a dispute between the general manager and other staff over the distribution of extra money received from the passengers illegally.
Sources further said Kicks and punches were hurled at each other while PIA officers were also injured in the quarrel. Meanwhile, all the travel agents in the Blue Area also protested today. They said, “We are not being given a quota by PIA”.
Travel agents said that the PIA officials received extra 200 dollars illegally from passengers instead of 100 dollars were not given travel agents, adding that they are being slandered.
Earlier, it was reported that the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is illegally demanding higher amounts for tickets from the Pakistanis, who arrived in the country during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to details, the Pakistanis from Saudi Arabia had arrived in the country amid pandemic and their visas will expire on September 30, 2020. In this regard, a huge number of travelers were present outside the PIA Islamabad office.
However, the national carrier is not issuing tickets to the affected people and allegedly demanding $100 extra for the tickets. One of the victims informed that according to the PIA website, $100 will be received from the passengers, who have a return ticket, but they are receiving an extra $100.
The passengers further informed that the agent mafia outside the PIA office receiving Rs130,000 from them for a one-way ticket, which actual cost is Rs70,000.
