KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the bail of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a case regarding the appointment of the Managing Director (MD) of Pakistan State Oil.

As per details, Abbasi appeared before the court during the hearing. The court expressed anger over the absence of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials and lawyer and remarked that the former PM arrived from Islamabad for the hearing but anti-graft watchdog’s officials did not come.

The court, while extending bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader adjourned the hearing till September 3.

It is worth mentioning here that Abbasi had been accused of hiring people illegally while he was serving as the petroleum minister during PML-N’s tenure. NAB claimed that he illegally appointed PSO MD and deputy MD.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while talking to media after the hearing,  said that Karachi has many problems and these problems are not of the federal and provincial government. He said that the problems of Karachi would have to be solved together and there would be no point in blaming each other.

Abbasi said that the defense area of Karachi has been more affected and drainage should be better managed in Shar-e-Quaid. These problems need to be addressed.

Talking further on the issues of Karachi, he said that there was no need to politicize the issues. “When Maryam Nawaz was silent, people objected and when she was speaking, they also objected,” the former prime minister said.
