Worldwide coronavirus cases cross 12.6 million

WASHINGTON: The number of coronavirus infection cases across the world has surged to 12,625,860 and the pandemic has so far claimed over 562,820 lives.

According to the latest data, 7,361,659 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far. The United States tops with nearly 3,291,786 cases and more than 136,671 deaths followed by Brazil with over 1,804,338 cases and more than 70,524 deaths.

India has reported 822,603 cases while 22,144 deaths due to the coronavirus. Over 713,936 people have infected while 11,017 people died of the virus in Russia. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.

Peru has reported 319,646 cases while 11,500 deaths. In Chile, nearly 309,274 cases were confirmed, including more than 6,781 deaths. Spain has recorded 28,403 fatalities and 300,988 infections. Mexico has reported 34,191 deaths and 289,174 cases.

The United Kingdom has reported 44,650 fatalities and 288,133 infections. Meanwhile, the death toll is 12,447 in Iran as a confirmed number of cases is almost 252,720.

Italy has 34,938 fatalities, while 242,639 infections. Germany has reported 9,130 deaths and 199,588 infections.

Turkey reported 210,965 coronavirus cases and 5,323 fatalities. France has reported 30,004 deaths and 170,752 cases.

China has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 83,587 cases, with 78,623 recoveries. Canada reported 8,759 fatalities and 107,126 infections due to coronavirus.

Israel has reported 36,266 coronavirus cases while 351 deaths. Saudi Arabia has reported 226,486 cases of coronavirus, while 2,151 coronavirus deaths have been reported.
