KARACHI: Sindh Minister Information and Local Government (LG), Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the Sindh government clean areas but people throw garbage again.
While addressing a press conference in Karachi, Nasir Shah during said, “Met department has forecasted heavy rains and we are holding meetings in this regard. We clean areas but people throw garbage again.”
“This program was supposed to start a month and a half ago but was postponed due to coronavirus situation, however, in view of monsoon rains, drains will be cleaned by the end of August,” he added.
According to him, 38 drains that were the choking points of Sindh have been cleared to a great extent and the flow has started again.
“We are trying to clear the drains and garbage as soon as possible. In this regard, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and NESPAK are also on board,” he added.
Earlier, Nasir Hussain Shah said that the federal government should take lead in taking measures to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the Sindh government supported the federal initiatives unconditionally but no appreciation was received in return.
