KARACHI: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has swelled to 206,512 in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 4,167.
According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 3,557 cases of coronavirus were reported while 49 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 95,407 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
As per details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while 79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.
There have been 74,778 cases so far been detected in Punjab, 80,446 in Sindh, 25,778 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 10,976 in Balochistan, 12,643 Islamabad, 1,442 in Gilgit Baltistan and 1,049 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 4,167 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 890 deaths, Sindh 1,206, Balochistan 114, Gilgit-Baltistan 24, Punjab 1,657, Azad Kashmir 30 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 121 deaths.
Moreover, Pakistan has started producing locally designed ventilators due to the coronavirus. Fawad Chaudhry in a tweet said the first locally made ventilators would be delivered to the national disaster management agency soon.
Currently, 1,503 ventilators are available at government hospitals treating COVID-19 patients. Hospitals in major cities have already begun to report acute critical-care shortages, forcing them to turn away patients.
