ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said Modi’s policies for neighbouring countries could escalate more tensions in South Asia.
In a statement today (Monday), FM Qureshi said that Pakistan has categorically explained and shattered the devious designs harbored by India to force the region into instability.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi claimed that India might activate sleeper cells in Pakistan to divert attention from its internal issues and disrupt peace in the region.
“Let it be Line of Control (LoC) firing provocations or any other matter, India cannot see enduring peace in Pakistan,” the statement read.
He added the Bhartia Janta Party-led Indian government is under enormous pressure due to its embarrassing military skirmish with China in Ladakh.
He said China made the utmost efforts to resolve the border issue peacefully, but India continued construction in the disputed territory, rejecting China’s concerns.
“I will raise the issue of regional security with foreign ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries,” Qureshi said.
He said China has a principled stance and the 3500-kilometer border area along Tibet and Ladakh is a disputed territory between China and India, adding that if India thinks that it will be able to occupy it, this will not be acceptable for China.
Qureshi said Pakistan rejected India’s unilateral steps on August 5 last year in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and China has also raised objections over them.
He said Pakistan is a peace-loving country and desires peace in the region which can be seen by its role in the Afghan peace process.
