KARACHI: Amid the coronavirus outbreak, Sindh government offices are closed, while the offices of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) remained open for illegal practices.
According to sources, dozens of officers and employees and their families have been infected with the coronavirus by reopening KDA offices for illegal businesses despite the Sindh government’s lockdown orders.
Employees of KDA while criticizing the management said that the authorities have handed them over to coronavirus.
The employees said that the provincial government has ordered the closure of all the government and private offices, schools; however, KDA’s officers compelled them to perform duty.
Sources said that illegal occupation of public and government lands continues unabated in Karachi under the patronage of influential builders and the complacency of KDA authorities.
Sources disclosed that the land gabbers illegally occupied two non-allotted commercial plots located in Clifton Block-4 under the patronage KDA officials. While illegal appoints were also made in KDA offices to deal with four acres of land, worth billions of rupees adjacent to the National Stadium, sources added.
Sources said in the KDA State and Enforcement Department controversial officer Shams Siddiqui has been promoted to the post of Director, while Qadeer Mangi has already been appointed to the post of Member Admin Administration.
Karachi’s most valuable land in Clifton and the National Stadium are being occupied with the help of KDA officials, for which not only KDA offices have been opened in the lockdown but illegal appoints have also made.
“At the same time these valuable plots have also been taken over by land gabbers after paying enamors amount to corrupt officials of KDA, sources said.
Citizens have appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene immediately and take stern action against the officers involved in the illegal businesses.
