KARACHI: A dealer committed suicide by jumping off a multi-storey building located in the electronic market of Saddar area in Karachi.
The trader identified as Abid allegedly committed suicide after jumping from a building near Star City Mall in Saddar area of Karachi due to the miserable condition of his business amid the ongoing lockdown.
President Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA), Rizwan Irfan, blamed the provincial and federal government for the death of the trader. He said that the political fight between the two governments was taking away the lives of the traders.
He reiterated to allow the business community to reopen their business under the standard operating procedures (SOPs). The deceased family said that he was not facing any domestic or business problems.
Police officials termed the death as an apparent suicide incident, and said an investigation is underway to ascertain the reason behind his death.
Abid’s shop was situated on the second floor of the same building, police said. They added that eyewitnesses saw him moving to the upper floor and later others watched him jump off the building. Police said many people present on the scene saw him removing his slippers before committing suicide.
