The president in his tweet just shared that he had signed the Zainab Alert Bill into law, an excellent law for a rapid response and recovery in cases of child kidnappings, he added.
According to the president, it will establish a toll-free helpline, lay down a framework for quick police and admin response. It would use and improve upon technology to trace criminals, he added.
The bill is named after a seven-year-old Zainab Ansari who was raped and killed in Kasur. She went missing and her body was found on a pile of garbage. The brutal rape and murder had triggered angry countrywide protests. Zainab’s murderer was hanged in Kot Lakhpat jail the same year.
