Sindh govt plans to establish field hospital at Expo Centre 

KARACHI: Sindh government has planned to establish a field hospital at the Expo Centre in the city due to the emerging cases of coronavirus disease.

This decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by Sindh chief minister. The meeting was attended by Corps Commander Karachi Lt General Humayun Aziz, DG Rangers Major General Omar Bukhari.

The field hospital will aim at treating the patients suffering from the virus in Karachi as coronavirus tally of the city reached 57 cases.

Chief Minister Sindh directed Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani to start arranging beds and other necessary equipment and place it at the Expo Centre.

The 10,000-bed isolation centre and field hospital would be established with the support of Corps 5. Commissioner Karachi has been tasked to coordinate with the Pakistan Army for the purpose.

In the first phase, one hall of the Expo Center would be converted into an isolation centre and then more halls would be acquired. In the first hall, beds, medicines, necessary equipment, doctors and paramedical staff would be made available.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that over 16000 swabs/VTMs and 13000 kits have been made available to test coronavirus infection in the province.  The federal authorities had approved the suggestion given by the provincial authorities.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Sindh government requested the citizens in the province to self-quarantine themselves for 14 days for the prevention from coronavirus.
