KARACHI: On the orders of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah the out-patient departments (OPDs) have been closed across Sindh government’s hospitals to limit the spread of coronavirus.
The decision was taken by the Sindh government after health officials expressed fear of the further spread of coronavirus after contacting visitors.
According to the decision, emergency services of the hospitals will continue at all hospitals across the province, while six OPDs of government hospitals in Karachi have been closed on Wednesday.
Sources said the various private hospitals have also closed OPDs due to the raising situation of coronavirus in the province.
Young Doctors Association (YDA) had also announced to observe suspension the OPD services as well as all sorts of elective services from hospitals all over the Sindh just to avoid the rapid spread of Coronavirus infections.
In a statement, the representative of YDA said doctors are committed to serving the patients and they will continue working in emergency services, Coronavirus clinics and Quarantine centers with personal protective measures.
Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh had also demanded Personal protective equipment (PPE) for health professionals, as doctors and hospital staff are at high risk due to Coronavirus threats.
