ISLAMABAD: US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has welcomed Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to support a reduction in violence.
Zalmay Khalilzad earlier visited Islamabad from 17th to 18th February where he appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace in Afghanistan.
During his visit, he discussed the US-Taliban agreement, intra-Afghan negotiations, and a comprehensive ceasefire in support of sustainable peace.
He also met UN Secretary-General Guterres to discuss the Afghan peace process.
Earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met Khalilzad in the Islamabad where both discussed the bilateral relations between the countries, the Afghan peace process, and other important issues.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi during the meeting said that Pakistan would continue to play its positive role in the Afghan peace process.
He said that Pakistan played a crucial role as a negotiator of the Afghan peace process. The country would continue its positive efforts, he added. Khalilzad lauded Pakistan’s efforts for peace and support of Afghan refugees.
