QUETTA: At least seven people killed, including two police officials and another 21 injured in an explosion near the Quetta Press Club located on Shahrah-i-Adalat.
Deputy Inspector-General of Quetta, Abdul Razzaq Cheema said that so far, the blast seems to be a suicide attack.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal has directed the IGP to submit a report within next 24 hours.
According to details, the blast took place during a demonstration near the press club. Police and rescue officials have reached the spot.
The body of deceased people and the injured were shifted to nearby local hospitals for medical facilities. Law Enforcement agencies have cordoned off the site.
Nature of the blast was not immediately clear. Several vehicles parked in the locality have also been damaged due to impact of the blast. Emergency was imposed in the Civil Hospital.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken the notice of the incident and also grieved the loss of human lives in the blast.
PM Imran has directed the concerned authorities to provide the best medical treatment to the injured.
Balochistan Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai also condemned the blast and said, “Foolproof security measures should be ensured across the province for the protection of the masses.”
