ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court has heard the petition filed over the safe return of Pakistani students who are stuck in China due to the ongoing coronavirus disease.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah conducted the hearing in which the judge ordered authorities to help Pakistani students who were stuck in China.
A petition was earlier filed by some Pakistani students living in China in which they pleaded through email that the government was not supporting them in the on-going situation.
The petition also pleaded the court to direct the government to help the Pakistanis residing there and help them.
The judge in this regard also directed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Syed Zulfikar Bukhari to arrange a meeting between families and students.
It was earlier circulated that Pakistani students have been barred to travel to back to the country from China due to the ongoing epidemic coronavirus.
According to one of the students, the Pakistani government is not cooperating over their evacuation process.
The Chinese authorities were willing to provide us an airplane but the Pakistani government was not cooperating, citing that any flight from China is not allowed to land due to fears of coronavirus spread across the country, said one of the students.
He further said, “No flight is operational between Pakistan and China. We purchased tickets several times but the flight was canceled just one hour before departure.”
