WASHINGTON: Gold prices came under pressure at the start of the trading week as rising crude oil prices and growing concerns over inflation weighed on precious metals in global markets.
On Monday, September 28, 2026, spot gold fell 1.5%, bringing its price down to $4,223.95 per ounce.
US gold futures also declined 1.5%, settling at $4,257.90 per ounce.
Other precious metals also traded lower in global markets. Spot silver fell 2.6% to $62.64 per ounce.
Platinum declined 2.1% to $1,741.45 per ounce, while palladium also lost 2.1%, falling to $1,239.95 per ounce.
The decline in precious metal prices came as investors continued to closely monitor inflationary pressures and the outlook for interest rates in major global economies.
