LAHORE: A cyber blackmailer has been arrested after allegedly threatening women with fake objectionable photos and stolen personal data, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) said.
The accused, identified as Muhammad Salman, was arrested in Rahim Yar Khan on the instructions of NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Waseem. Investigators said Salman gained unauthorized access to women’s private data and photographs while working abroad.
After returning to Pakistan, he allegedly used manipulated images of foreign women to demand money. The accused reportedly threatened to share the photos and personal information on social media if victims refused to pay.
Cyber blackmailer arrested in NCCIA operation
According to the agency, Salman also threatened to send the material to the victims’ families. The NCCIA Lahore team registered a case after recovering private and objectionable content from his mobile phone.
The arrest of Rahim Yar Khan blackmailer followed complaints involving alleged online harassment and extortion. Officials are now conducting a forensic examination of the suspect’s digital devices.
The investigation may reveal evidence linked to other affected women. Authorities have urged victims of online blackmail to report incidents instead of complying with extortion demands.
Director Muhammad Ali Waseem said the agency would take action against those involved in cyber-blackmail and harassment.
