Punjab, banned organisations, Eid al Azha

LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has issued a comprehensive list of proscribed and monitored organisations ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, urging citizens not to donate sacrificial animal hides or charity to any banned or suspicious groups.

According to officials, the move is part of enhanced security and financial monitoring measures introduced in the run-up to Eid to prevent the misuse of charitable donations.

The Home Department warned that providing financial or material support to proscribed organisations is a serious offence under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, and legal action will be taken against violators.

Citizens have been strongly advised to ensure that animal hides are only handed over to registered and verified charitable organisations approved by the Punjab Charity Commission. Authorities said registration and verification can be confirmed through QR-coded certificates issued by the commission.

District administrations have also been directed that only approved seminaries and welfare organisations, authorised by deputy commissioners, will be allowed to collect hides during Eid.

Officials emphasised that donors must verify permits and registration documents before making any donations to ensure compliance with the law and to prevent funds from reaching illegal entities.

The list includes a wide range of organisations already proscribed under national security laws, and authorities have instructed strict enforcement during Eid days.

Law enforcement agencies have been directed to take immediate action against any violations to ensure implementation of the government’s directives across the province.
