In several districts of interior Sindh including Hyderabad, dengue virus and malaria cases are showing no signs of slowing down, yet preventive measures are not visible.
According to details, hundreds of patients daily are forced to seek treatment in hospitals, clinics, private hospitals, or at home, but no visible efforts are seen to control dengue and malaria.
Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Zain-ul-Abideen confirmed that four people have died so far after being infected with the dengue virus.
Only in the month of October so far, 17,364 people have been screened across Sindh, of which 7,679 tested positive for dengue, while in Hyderabad, Qasimabad, and Latifabad alone, 6,486 people tested positive for dengue, according to the statistics of Liaquat University Diagnostic Research Laboratory.,
From January till now, 2,416,427 people have been screened for malaria, of which 215,270 were found infected, according to the Sindh Health Department,
The Sindh government has allocated a budget of 1.21 billion rupees for the malaria prevention program only, but the rising number of malaria cases in the hundreds of thousands has raised questions over this program.
