US President Trump may not visit Pakistan in Feb: FO

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesperson Ayesha Farooqi has said that Pakistan was trying its best to defuse tensions in the region.
While addressing a weekly press briefing, Ayesha Farooqi said that Pakistan would continue to play its role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Farooqi said, ‘Pakistan enjoys cordial relations with all the countries including Iran and Afghanistan. We will continue to play our due role in maintaining regional peace,” she added.
Earlier on Wednesday, she advised Pakistani citizens to refrain from planning a visit to Iraq due to armed conflict between the United States and Iran.
Ayesha Farooqi in a tweet advised remaining in close contact with Pakistan Embassy in Baghdad.
Farooqi wrote, “In view of recent developments and prevailing security situation in the region, Pakistani nationals are advised to exercise maximum caution while planning a visit to Iraq at this point.
She further wrote, “Those already in Iraq are advised to remain in close contact with Pakistan Embassy in Baghdad.”
After a strike by the US assassinated Iranian Major-General Qassem Soleimani, Iran has fired more than a dozen missiles at two Iraqi military bases hosting US troops.
The missiles targeted the Ain al-Assad base in Anbar province and a facility near Erbil’s airport in northern Iraq in the early morning today.
