PDMA has released a preliminary report on the loss of life and property caused by monsoon rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by national media on Saturday.
According to a report, 11 people have died and 6 have been injured due to flooding. Among the deceased are 4 men, 3 women, and 4 children, while Swat suffered the most damage from the rains and flash floods.
A total of 56 houses were damaged in the affected areas of the province, of which 50 were partially damaged and 6 were completely destroyed, according to PDMA.
PDMA stated that during the past 24 hours, there was a flood situation at Khwazakhela in the Swat River. In view of flood risks, PDMA has also issued an alert to the district administrations of Nowshera and Charsadda, instructing them to ensure advance precautionary measures in case of a possible emergency or flooding.
Earlier, floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the devastating 2022 monsoon floods, caused widespread destruction of homes, roads, and infrastructure. Thousands were displaced across the province, highlighting long-standing challenges in disaster preparedness and response.
