US President Donald Trump again attributed himself to ending the recent war between Pakistan and India.
Addressing media at the White House, Trump announced that the United States had a big role in putting both sides on a ceasefire.
“We stopped the war between Pakistan and India,” Trump stated. He added that he holds great respect for Pakistan and described the country as a nuclear power with “very good people.”
President Trump also appreciated Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, as a very influential man in the nation. He added that the army chief was instrumental in bringing an end to the fighting in the recent five-day war between India and Pakistan.
The US President is to host Field Marshal Asim Munir today for lunch. The lunch will be held in the absence of the media, and no agenda of the meeting has so far been disclosed, as per a British news agency. This strange meeting is likely to create worry for India, analysts opine.
Meanwhile, Indian media also states that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with President Trump on the phone for 35 minutes earlier. During the call, Modi categorically ruled out any third-party mediation for India’s conflict with Pakistan.
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri explained that Modi explained to Trump that India never accepted mediation and never will. Modi also explained to Trump that India’s military operation, code-named “Operation Sindoor,” continues.
