The Commissioner of Karachi has imposed a complete ban on bathing and swimming in the Hub Canal in view of public safety. The duration of the ban is one month.
In this regard, a notification has been issued under Section 144, enforcing the ban from June 17 to July 16. According to the notification, Section 144 has been implemented to protect the water supply in the Hub Canal and to save precious lives.
The ban has been imposed due to the increasing incidents of drowning in the Hub Canal. Illegal activities in the Hub Canal have been declared a threat to infrastructure security.
According to the notification, from June 17 to July 16, there is a complete ban on bathing, swimming, and public gatherings in the Hub Canal.
Legal action has been ordered under Section 188 against those who violate the law, and strict measures have also been decided to prevent unauthorized activities around the Hub Canal. All concerned SHOs have been directed to register cases against violators of Section 144.
