Once again, tremors of an earthquake have been felt in Karachi. According to various reports, this was the 11th earthquake whose tremors caused fear and panic.
According to details, tremors were felt again at 12:53 AM in different areas of the country’s largest city, Karachi, with a recorded magnitude of 3.4. Due to the earthquake in Landhi, cracks appeared in the walls of several houses, and residents ran outside in fear.
Earlier, on Monday night at 11:16 PM, tremors were also felt in the city. The tremors were felt in Landhi Sherpao, Quaidabad, and various other areas, with a recorded magnitude of 2.4. The epicenter of the earthquake was approximately 10 kilometers near Malir.
Officials say that tremors have been felt 11 times in Karachi since Sunday. According to the Seismological Center, tremors may continue to be felt for the next two days.
Why are tremors being felt in Karachi?
Chief Meteorologist Amir Haider stated that the tremors are occurring in the Landhi fault region. These are minor tremors, and so far, no major earthquake has occurred on this fault line. Karachi’s other fault line is near Thana Bula Khan, and both are active fault lines.
He said that minor intensity earthquakes are reported during these days. There is also a main boundary line near Kirthar, where moderate intensity earthquakes are frequently reported. It may take a few days for the fault line to return to normal, and tremors may continue to be felt over the next few days.
