The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory predicting heavy rain and windstorms across several parts of the country during the upcoming Eid holidays, raising concerns for both residents and tourists.
According to the latest forecast, rainfall began on Monday in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mansehra, Balakot, Kaghan Valley, Babusar Top, and surrounding areas, causing a noticeable drop in temperatures and turning the weather chilly in the scenic northern belt.
The PMD has warned travelers and tourists to exercise caution, especially while visiting northern and mountainous regions, as heavy rainfall and strong winds could pose risks to weak infrastructure and road safety. The risk of landslides and hailstorms in some areas has also been highlighted.
From June 3 to June 5, widespread rainfall accompanied by powerful windstorms is expected in:
Islamabad, Murree, and Rawalpindi, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Upper and Central Punjab and Pparts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The PMD also noted that hailstorms may occur in isolated locations during this period.
A windstorm and rain alert has been issued for Monday evening as weather systems begin affecting the northern regions of the country. Tourists planning Eid trips to hill stations are strongly advised to stay updated on weather conditions and avoid travel during peak storm activity.
