Islamabad, the federal capital, and neighboring Rawalpindi received heavy rain and hail accompanied by gusty winds this afternoon, while dark clouds engulfed both cities.
According to media reports, intermittent rain and strong winds have been ongoing in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Hailstorms were also reported in several areas, including the Blue Area. The rainfall brought a noticeable drop in temperature, and the sudden change in weather pleasantly surprised residents.
Murree also experienced heavy rain and thunderstorms, which significantly cooled the weather. Following the downpour, rivers and canals overflowed, flooding roads in several areas. Power supply has been suspended, and tourists have been confined to their hotels.
The weather took a similar turn in Azad Kashmir, where rain brought a welcome drop in temperatures across various areas, including the capital, Muzaffarabad. The heat wave subsided, offering much-needed relief to the residents.
Gusty winds and heavy rain also affected Peshawar and surrounding areas, causing power outages in several locations.
In response to the widespread rainfall, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert, urging the public to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. The authority has advised people not to take shelter in open spaces, under electric poles, or beneath trees during storms and heavy rain. It has also warned against traveling to the affected areas.
