For the first time since their father’s incarceration, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sons—Qasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan—have publicly spoken out about his condition inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, where he has been held for nearly two years.
In an emotional interview, Qasim Khan described the conditions of Imran Khan’s solitary confinement as “bleak and brutal.” He revealed that despite court orders allowing weekly contact, he and his brother are only able to speak with their father Imran Khan once every two to three months.
“He is occasionally in pitch black for prolonged periods,” Qasim said, disclosing that Imran Khan was kept in complete darkness for 10 consecutive days.
When asked how the former Prime Minister mentally coped with such inhumane conditions, Qasim responded:
“The first two days were beyond difficult, but he was able to get into a zen-like mentality.”
The sons also opened up about their personal lives and the values Imran Khan instilled in them. Qasim Khan, who now lives a private life in the UK, clarified:
“Our father never wanted us to be in politics, and we’re not interested in it anyway.”
He recounted how he learned of his father’s arrest while preparing to give a speech for his startup:
“My business partner showed me the news on his phone. We’re quite thick-skinned now; we’ve seen him shot and arrested. He always warned us—he was going up against mafias.”
Despite their composed tone, the two brothers expressed deep concern over the ongoing solitary confinement, with Qasim emphasizing that their father’s suffering has entered its second year without relief.
Their appearance comes as political voices—including PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan—are calling for a “political ceasefire” and demanding Imran Khan’s release to restore democratic normalcy in Pakistan.
