Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed has emerged as a prominent figure in Pakistan’s defense landscape, especially during the recent military standoff with India in May 2025. Estimated to be in his early 50s,
Ahmed’s distinguished career spans over three decades, beginning with his commissioning in 1992. He has since held key leadership roles, including command of a frontline fighter squadron and an operational air base.
Since 2022, he has served as the Director General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), becoming its public voice during critical national moments.
His role came into sharp focus amid rising tensions following the April 23, 2025 terrorist incident in Indian-administered Kashmir, which triggered Indian air strikes and Pakistan’s retaliatory Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
Aurangzeb’s confident delivery during the May 11, 2025 press conference captured public attention. Declaring a “6–0” aerial victory—claiming six Indian aircraft, including Rafale jets, were downed—he went viral on social media, with his Instagram gaining widespread traction.
While independent sources reported fewer confirmed losses, his commanding presence reinforced national morale.
A seasoned officer, Ahmed holds a master’s in Military Arts from China and a degree in National Security from Pakistan’s National Defence University (NDU), where he also served as a faculty member. His international deployment in Saudi Arabia broadened his operational outlook and strategic insight.
