The ongoing tension between Pakistan and India has reached a dangerous level, where border incursions, drone attacks, reports of explosions in cities, and nighttime blackouts are becoming routine. In such circumstances, the safety of citizens and timely response are of utmost importance.

By following the public safety guidelines below, you can help protect yourself and your family:

1. What to Do if Sirens Go Off:

  • If an air defense or emergency siren sounds, immediately enter your home or a nearby shelter.

  • Close all doors, windows, and also shut the ventilators.

  • Sit or lie down on the ground, cover your head with your hands for protection.

  • Stay away from tall buildings, glass areas, and open rooftops.

2. What to Do in Case of a Blackout:

  • Follow blackout instructions issued by the government or local authorities.

  • Turn off all external lights of the house.

  • Use minimal indoor lighting and cover windows with thick curtains.

  • Keep mobile phones, flashlights, and radios charged.

  • Avoid unnecessary movement, especially at night.

3. What to Do in Case of a Drone Attack or Air Threat:

  • If there’s an explosion or drone strike nearby, immediately duck or take cover near a strong wall or floor.

  • If possible, move to a basement or an inner room.

  • Avoid rumors on social media; rely only on official sources for information.

4. Basic Emergency Preparedness:

Every home should have an emergency bag ready, containing the following items:

  • Flashlight, extra batteries

  • Clean drinking water (at least a 3-day supply)

  • Dry food, biscuits, chocolate

  • Radio (battery- or solar-powered)

  • First aid kit, essential medicines

  • Photocopies of important documents

  • Special needs items for children, elderly, and women

5. Important Public Instructions:

  • Do not believe in rumors; follow only the guidance of ISPR, the government, or district administration.

  • Stay away from public places, markets, and unnecessary gatherings.

  • Report any suspicious activity or object to the police or concerned authorities immediately.

  • Keep children in safe places and prepare them mentally.

6. Show Civil Unity and Responsibility:

  • Spreading rumors or sharing videos at such a time can be against national security.

  • Fully cooperate with the Pakistan Armed Forces, rescue agencies, and civil administration.

  • It is everyone’s duty to show discipline, unity, and patriotism.

War is not something to be welcomed, but preparing for possible threats and taking protective measures is the basic right and duty of every citizen.

The Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Armed Forces are fulfilling their duties diligently; however, it is also the public’s responsibility to stay prepared and cautious to prevent any loss of life or property in case of an emergency.
