RAWALPINDI – Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Tuesday accused India of orchestrating terrorist activities in Pakistan and dismissed its allegations over the Pahalgam massacre as baseless and politically motivated.
In a press briefing, Lt Gen Chaudhry revealed that a serving Indian Army officer had been found in direct contact with terrorists operating in Pakistan, including those responsible for IED attacks in Bhimber and Jalalpur Jattan. He named a terrorist, Majeed, who allegedly received funding from Indian handlers identified as Sukvinder and Amit.
The ISPR DG claimed this was part of a broader Indian terror nexus targeting Pakistan, with documented links stretching from Lahore to Balochistan. He emphasized that while India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack, it failed to provide any credible evidence to support its claims.
This statement came hours after the Pakistan Army shot down an Indian surveillance quadcopter that violated Pakistani airspace near the Line of Control (LoC).
The drone reportedly entered the Manawar sector in Bhimber, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where troops acted swiftly to neutralize the threat.
Tensions between Pakistan and India have escalated following the April attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-occupied Kashmir, where 26 people were killed in a deadly shooting. India blamed Pakistan for the incident and subsequently announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, further straining bilateral relations.
The situation remains tense, with heightened military vigilance along the LoC and renewed accusations on both sides.
