ISLAMABAD – A Pakistani family that had traveled to India seeking life-saving heart treatment for their two children was forced to return home without medical care after being ordered to leave by Indian authorities.
In a video message, the children’s father expressed deep disappointment, saying that the children had no involvement in the political situation that escalated between the two countries.
He appealed to the Pakistani government to urgently facilitate medical treatment for his children in another country, citing doctors’ warnings that delays could worsen their condition.
The family’s return comes in the aftermath of the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, a tourist region in Indian-occupied Kashmir, where 26 people were killed. India quickly blamed Pakistan for the incident, despite a lack of evidence, and subsequently suspended the historic Indus Waters Treaty.
Pakistan condemned the attack and reiterated its willingness to cooperate fully in an impartial investigation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also stated that Pakistan supports any neutral inquiry into the tragic incident.
The situation has added a human dimension to the escalating political fallout, raising concerns over how diplomatic tensions are now impacting innocent civilians.
