Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday challenged India to present evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack.
Speaking at a presser alongside Defense Minister, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Awan following a meeting of the National Security Committee, FM Dar accused India of blame game, urging the neighboring country to produce evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the recent terror attack.
Dar said that Pakistan has evidence that some foreigners arrived in Srinagar with weapons, adding that Indian intelligence agencies has kept these people in Srinagar.
The attack occurred in Pahalgam, a well-known tourist destination in the disputed region of Kashmir, which attracts thousands of visitors each summer. Armed assailants opened fire on the tourists, resulting in the deaths of at least 26 individuals.
Foreign Minister Dar outlined the decisions taken by the National Security Committee (NSC), saying that Pakistan had issued reciprocal measures in response to India’s actions.
A day earlier, India had closed its borders, downgraded diplomatic relations, and—marking an unprecedented move—unilaterally announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).
These actions were taken on the basis of unsubstantiated claims made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and segments of the Indian media, accusing Islamabad of supporting cross-border terrorism.
