Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has sanctioned a string of large-scale infrastructure projects to enhance traffic management and public facilities in Islamabad.
A key initiative is renovating and enlarging the Faizabad Interchange—among the capital’s most important traffic intersections—between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The project includes widening the existing interchange and adding two new lanes, with the goal of easing congestion and facilitating smoother daily commutes for thousands of motorists.
In addition, a new 2+2 lane underpass at Faisal Chowk has been greenlit to address traffic congestion at one of Islamabad’s busiest intersections. This development is expected to significantly reduce delays during peak hours and improve overall city traffic flow.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had previously constructed an underpass on Faisal Avenue connecting sectors G-7 and G-8, but a narrow road over the structure failed to resolve traffic issues. In response, Minister Naqvi has now directed the CDA to build a second underpass linking sectors E-7/F-7 with F-8.
According to a press release from the Interior Ministry, these projects are part of a broader strategy to modernize urban infrastructure and enhance public convenience in the federal capital.
