Pakistan’s security forces successfully neutralized eight militants and injured four others during a gunfight near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, according to a statement from the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Sunday.
The clash occurred in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan district on the night of April 5-6, after security forces detected a group of militants attempting to infiltrate across the border.
“Troops effectively engaged and thwarted their infiltration attempt. Following an intense exchange of fire, eight Khwarij [terrorists] were eliminated, while four others sustained injuries,” the ISPR reported.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the interim Afghan government to ensure proper border management and prevent the use of Afghan territory by militants for acts of terrorism against Pakistan. “The interim Afghan government is expected to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by Khwarij,” the ISPR emphasized.
