Google marked International Women’s Day 2025 on Saturday with a special Doodle honouring the achievements of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
Google has altered its logo with a doodle that depicts a revolutionised space exploration, uncovered ancient discoveries, and pioneered lab research.
This Doodle honors International Women’s Day, which the United Nations recognized in 1975 to emphasize the significant contributions of women worldwide.
Women have long played a crucial role in STEM, yet their participation has remained disproportionately low since the 18th century’s Age of Enlightenment, when scientific and technological advancements became more structured disciplines. Scholars and policymakers have noted that these fields have traditionally been dominated by men, with women facing barriers to entry, recognition, and career advancement.
The Doodle serves as a tribute to those who have pushed boundaries and made significant contributions, paving the way for future generations.
International Women’s Day is observed worldwide every March 8; heads of states, governments, and private players and commercial brands send out messages celebrating women’s equality and empowerment.
