Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Ghulam Sarwar was killed along with his companion in a firing incident in the Zahri area of Khuzdar.
According to a media report, the Deputy Commissioner of Khuzdar has stated that one person was also injured in the attack. Levies forces have shifted the bodies and the injured guard to a local hospital while launching a search operation for the attackers. Local Levies authorities are also investigating the incident further.
JUI spokesperson Aslam Ghouri condemned the killing of Ghulam Sarwar and Maulana Amanullah in the attack, criticizing the Chief Minister of Balochistan. He accused the Chief Minister of downplaying the security situation by insisting that everything was fine.
Earlier, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Samiul Haq (JUI-S) leader and the vice-principal of Darul Uloom Haqania, Akora Khattak, Nowshera, was killed in a suicide blast inside the seminary during Friday prayers.
According to police and media reports, several other people were also killed in the blast, while over 20 were injured. The explosion occurred inside the seminary after Friday prayers, as confirmed by the city police officer. The attack targeted Maulana Hamidul Haq, KP Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed said.
He confirmed to reporters that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami’s head, Maulana Hamidul Haq, had died in the attack, adding that it was a suicide bombing.
Emergency response teams arrived at the scene while police cordoned off the area for safety and investigation. An emergency was declared in all hospitals in Peshawar. Eyewitnesses reported that a portion of the mosque was damaged due to the blast.
