Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz is set to launch a mega tourism project, “Magnificent Punjab,” to make the province a regional and international center of history and civilization. She has directed the authorities to initiate the program.
According to a report, Maryam Nawaz also instructed the authorities to take a historic step by transforming 170 historic sites in the province into world-class tourist centers, including 101 gurdwaras and 53 churches, the mapping of which has already been completed.
After five months of hard work, Maryam Nawaz’s vision is being put into practice under the leadership of Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, who has approved all the proposed projects as the minister responsible for this initiative.
Earlier, Maryam Nawaz directed the ministry to establish the Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority. Following her instructions, the project summary has been sent to the provincial cabinet for formal approval. The authority will oversee all institutions related to tourism, history, and heritage.
The Chief Minister also directed the authorities to implement the Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority Act 2024 for the first time, ensuring the project’s success. Additionally, the province has prepared its first comprehensive tourism policy.
