Security forces in Kurram district have successfully recovered a significant cache of illegal weapons during a clearance operation conducted from January 19 to 21. The operation, a joint effort between the civil administration, police, and security agencies, was primarily focused in the Baggan area, and marks a vital step towards restoring peace in the region.
The operation, which was supported by local elders and residents who provided crucial information, has been hailed as a critical milestone in the ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements in Kurram. Authorities noted the active participation of the community as a key factor in the success of the operation, which uncovered a large quantity of illegal arms.
In line with a recently signed peace agreement, officials reiterated that strict measures will be enforced against criminals, with no leniency or discrimination. The district administration has pledged to maintain law and order, ensuring that peace efforts are sustained in the long term.
The operation also saw community-driven initiatives, including the renovation of a mosque and a cleanup drive in the Baggan area, which symbolized the growing cooperation between residents and authorities. With the situation in Kurram stabilizing, the next phase of the operation will focus on restoring supply convoys to Parachinar, with security measures in place to protect public safety. A convoy of relief supplies is scheduled to depart for Parachinar on Thursday, offering much-needed aid to the affected population.
Meanwhile, following the recent brutal attack on an aid convoy, which left several people dead, a curfew was imposed in the Bagan area, prompting many locals to relocate to safer zones. Security forces, backed by the Kurram police, have surrounded key areas in Bagan and are focusing on clearing several militant strongholds, including Mandori and Chaperi.
The operation is part of a broader strategy by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to take decisive action against militants and miscreants in the region.
