The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued a public advisory urging Pakistanis to refrain from investing in Bahria Town’s new real estate project in Dubai. The bureau revealed that the Government of Pakistan is pursuing legal channels with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to secure the extradition of Malik Riaz, a prominent businessman currently residing in the UAE.
According to Radio Pakistan, the anti-corruption watchdog is investigating Riaz and his associates for alleged fraud, deceptive practices, and public deceit. Official statements from NAB indicate that Riaz and his accomplices have unlawfully occupied both state-owned and privately-owned lands in Karachi, Takht-Parri, Rawalpindi, and New Murree.
The accountability court has already declared Malik Riaz an absconder in the Al-Qadir Trust case. The NAB claims he continues to deceive the public by selling plots and files in illegal housing societies where neither he nor Bahria Town (Pvt) Ltd holds valid ownership rights.
The government, in its efforts to bring Riaz to justice, is actively coordinating with UAE authorities through legal frameworks for his extradition.
