Federal Minister for Information, Attaullah Tarar, has asserted that the £190 million mega corruption case was not accidental but a deliberate and well-orchestrated scheme.
According to a report by Pak Observer, speaking at a press conference alongside Senator Talal Chaudhry, Minister Tarar revealed that the court was scheduled to decide on the case today; however, the accused failed to appear. He criticized their consistent habit of evading court proceedings.
Tarar highlighted that the accused had been employing delaying tactics for six years in the foreign funding case. Similarly, he noted, delays in the Toshakhana case involved frequent changes in lawyers and power of attorney.
He argued that innocent individuals do not resort to repeatedly altering legal representation. He accused the accused of using every possible method to prolong trials, calling it their standard strategy.
The minister also questioned the cabinet’s decision to approve the £190 million case through a “sealed envelope” without disclosing details to the public.
He described the case as the largest corruption scandal in Pakistan’s history, unprecedented in its scale of financial fraud. Tarar linked the scandal to diamond rings, land for the Al-Qadir Trust, and other illicit activities, reiterating that it was a planned operation, not a coincidence.
