Pakistan is set to unveil its ambitious National Economic Transformation Plan tomorrow, a comprehensive roadmap designed to reshape the country’s economic trajectory over the next five years. The announcement was made by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal during a ceremony in Lahore on Monday.
Speaking at the passing-out ceremony for the officers of the 47th Specialised Training Program of the Pakistan Administration Service, Iqbal underscored the critical need for a transformative approach to Pakistan’s economic growth. He emphasized that the success of the plan hinges on the nation’s ability to adapt to future global trends and leverage its human capital in emerging sectors.
“The National Economic Transformation Plan is not just a policy document—it’s a vision for Pakistan’s future. It aims to create an export-driven economy, focusing on areas that are poised to shape the future, such as e-commerce, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence,” Iqbal stated. He further noted that Pakistan’s economic prosperity depends on integrating its workforce with these cutting-edge technologies to stay competitive in an increasingly globalized economy.
The minister also stressed the importance of a cohesive effort in implementing the plan, urging the country’s civil servants to recognize the significance of their roles. “Civil service is not just a job; it is a responsibility. Every public servant must channel their energies into solving national challenges and contributing to the country’s development,” he added.
