ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department in its weather report on Sunday said dense fog is prevailing in Islamabad, most plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh and some districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
According to the Meteorological Department office report, today Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan witnessed the coldest part in the country with record minus 21°C.
The report further stated weather remained cold and dry elsewhere in Pakistan while the severe cold temperatures in the upper parts of the country.
In Punjab, the intense fog has made the driving very intricate as many routes of the motorway were closed for travel due to low visibility. Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Sargodha, Layyah, Bhakar, Khusab, Mianwali, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, T.T Singh, Hafizabad, Jhang, Faisalabad, Okara, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, D.G Khan and Rajanpur were engulfed by the fog during night and morning.
Met Office report further said in upper Sindh judicious to intense fog continue in Sukkur, Larkana, Rohri, Padian, and Jacobabad in morning and night. Cold weather is reported in the Sindh province.
Due to the foggy condition of the weather train and flight schedules caused delays in the countryside. Minimum temperatures in the country were recorded at Astore, Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan with record minus 21°C, 15°C, Gupis, Bagrote minus 12°C, central Gilgit minus 07°C, Kalam and Kalat minus 05°Celsius.
Due to the sudden increase in cold temperatures gas crisis has intensified in various cities of Sindh, including Karachi, causing problems for the citizens.
