Meezan Bank has issued an advisory to address recent rumors circulating on social media regarding unauthorized charges on debit and credit cards. The bank assured customers that there have been no data breaches and that their personal information remains fully secure.
The advisory emphasized that Meezan Bank is PCI-certified and that all its cards are compliant with EMV and 3D Secure standards. The bank clarified that the recent disputed transactions were linked to unsecured e-commerce activities and are being reimbursed through the chargeback process of international payment schemes. Affected customers are being promptly compensated.
To help ensure safe online transactions, Meezan Bank provided the following precautionary measures for customers:
- Avoid using cards on untrusted websites.
- Refrain from conducting banking transactions over public Wi-Fi.
- Be vigilant about phishing attempts via emails, messages, or calls asking for card details or OTPs, even if they appear legitimate.
- Immediately report lost or stolen cards to the bank.
