Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser has denied reports that he has been nominated as the party chairman by PTI founder Imran Khan.
Qaiser also clarified that no decision has been made regarding the position of secretary general, stating that a final decision would be made after consulting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.
Earlier, it was reported that Imran Khan had removed Gohar Khan as PTI chairman and Salman Akram Raja as secretary-general following disruptions during PTI’s protest in Islamabad. In response, Salman Akram Raja resigned from his post as secretary general, submitting his resignation to the party leadership. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan confirmed Raja’s resignation.
Imran Khan had appointed senior lawyer Salman Akram Raja as the party’s secretary general in September. However, Raja faced significant criticism for his lack of involvement in PTI’s recent protests.
It should be noted that PTIO faced a major setback on Thursday as lawyer Salman Akram Raja and religio-political leader Sahibzada Hamid Raza resigned from their roles within the party.
This comes after the PTI’s Islamabad march failed to meet its objective of releasing jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
