Internet speeds have started to improve in various cities and regions across the country, including Karachi, after three days of slow connections. However, the internet speed has not yet fully returned to normal or faster speeds.
Since November 24, internet speeds had been extremely slow in cities like Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, and Mansehra, causing difficulties for many users on platforms like WhatsApp and other social media. Media houses and influencers also faced issues in delivering content on time, and online businesses struggled due to the slow speeds.
Entertainment personalities also expressed frustration with the internet slowdown.
The Ministry of Interior had announced on November 23 that mobile and internet services might be suspended in various areas in response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests in Islamabad. As a result, internet services remained slow in cities like Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi, and mobile services were partially disrupted.
After PTI’s protests ended, internet speeds began to improve on November 27 in Karachi, Islamabad, and other parts of the country. However, by the evening of November 27, internet speeds were still not fully restored.
Before this recent slowdown, there had been multiple instances this year when internet speeds remained slow for several days or weeks, and social media platforms were also temporarily shut down.
