The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has introduced a new requirement for obtaining UAE employment visas.
According to Adnan Paracha, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA), individuals seeking employment in the UAE must now provide a Police Character Certificate in addition to their work visa.
This decision follows complaints from the UAE government concerning certain incidents involving Pakistani nationals. Paracha highlighted issues such as involvement in begging and other activities, which prompted this stricter measure.
Earlier, Pakistani tourists visiting the UAE were advised to purchase return tickets from the same airline to ensure a smoother travel process. Airlines and officials in Pakistan emphasize the importance of adhering to all visa requirements, which include proof of accommodation, sufficient financial resources, and confirmed return tickets.
With approximately 1.7 million Pakistanis residing in the UAE, they constitute the second-largest expatriate community in the Gulf nation. Furthermore, millions of Pakistani tourists visit the Emirates each year.
