The International Cricket Council (ICC) has scheduled an online board meeting for November 29 to discuss the future of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in Pakistan during February-March next year.
An ICC spokesperson confirmed that all board members have received the meeting agenda.
The meeting comes amid India’s refusal to tour Pakistan for the tournament, as reported by the media.
The ICC board will consider several options, including adopting a hybrid model, relocating the tournament, or postponing it. The aim is to finalize a resolution before December 1, when BCCI Secretary Jay Shah assumes the role of ICC Chairman.
In recent years, the ICC has ensured that India and Pakistan face off in at least one match during major global cricket events, a move driven by the significant revenue generated from these high-stakes encounters.
The 2023 World Cup match between the two arch-rivals attracted record-breaking viewership, with 173 million viewers on Indian TV and 225 million watching digitally.
